Privacy policy
What the codex collects.
The short version
- No accounts. No logins. No email collection.
- Tool state (history, saved exercises) is saved only to your browser, not our servers.
- We don’t sell data because we don’t have any to sell.
- Cloudflare may log basic traffic metadata to operate the site.
- Once ads are enabled, Google AdSense will set its own cookies, subject to Google’s policies.
What gets collected, and by whom
Local storage
Some tools — starting with the Writing Exercise Tool — save your session history to your browser’s local storage so your progress persists between visits. This data lives entirely on your device. The site never reads it from a server, and nothing is transmitted anywhere. You can clear it any time using the “Clear history” button inside the tool, or by clearing your browser’s site data.
Hosting infrastructure (Cloudflare)
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may log basic request metadata (IP address, user agent, timestamp, requested URL) as part of operating the service, preventing abuse, and providing aggregate traffic analytics. This is standard for any site on the internet; you can read Cloudflare’s own policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Cloudflare Web Analytics (planned)
Once enabled, Cloudflare Web Analytics will track aggregate traffic volume and page views. It does not use cookies, does not track individual visitors across sites, and does not build user profiles. It is privacy-focused by design.
Google AdSense (planned)
When ads are enabled on this site, Google and its partners will serve them. AdSense may set cookies on your browser to personalize ads, measure impressions, and prevent fraud. Google’s use of your data is governed by their policies at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com.
Patreon and Ko-fi
The support page links to external Patreon and Ko-fi pages. If you follow one of those links and make a contribution, you interact directly with those services. This site does not receive, store, or process payment information.
What we don’t do
- No email lists. We can’t sign you up for a newsletter because there isn’t one.
- No remarketing pixels from ad networks beyond AdSense itself.
- No cross-site trackers, no third-party analytics scripts beyond what’s listed above.
- No session recording or heatmap tools.
Your choices
- Clear your local tool history: use the “Clear history” button inside the tool, or clear this site’s storage from your browser’s developer tools.
- Disable cookies or storage: most browsers let you block or clear storage per-site. Note that tools which depend on local storage (like saving Writing Exercise history) won’t remember your sessions without it.
- Opt out of personalized ads: manage preferences at adssettings.google.com.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to address it.
Changes to this policy
Material changes — especially enabling new tracking, ad serving, or analytics — will be reflected here with an updated date at the top of the page.
